Together

It’s been a great week as we gathered for the LoveSingapore Summit. Close to 700 pastors, leaders, and staff of 101 churches and 37 Christian organisations met for a time of seeking God and prayer.

Every time I attend this Summit, I’m reminded of what Scripture says in Psalm 133:1 – “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!”

I know that God is delighted whenever we stand together as one, and I’m glad that FCBC is a part of such a movement. Often, it’s easy to become myopic and focus only on what we want to do. We strive for our own dreams and desires, and that’s great, but there’s something greater – working for a collective dream and vision.

During one of the sessions, we shared about what we hope to see God doing in Singapore. A short video clip of the 1978 Billy Graham Crusade in Singapore was played, and I found myself tearing as I watched it. The climax of the clip was a scene of hundreds and thousands making their way to the altar to give their lives to the Lord. I was overwhelmed when I saw that, because it is something I need to cry out for.

This year, the churches of Singapore are rallying around a central verse in Jeremiah 29, which tells us to seek the welfare of the nation. I believe that this ties in so well with the season of cultivation we are entering into. We need to be prepared for the coming harvest, which isn’t just about FCBC. It is about Singapore.

Church, I pray that God gives us a renewed hunger for the lost. This isn’t about growing a church. It’s about reaching the lost. It’s about having the heartbeat of God. Singapore needs the coming harvest, because she needs God. None of us can do this by ourselves, and FCBC definitely can’t do this by herself. It is going to take all of us working together to see this come to fruition.
