Unity

I was very happy to attend the National Unity Lunch with fellow pastors and marketplace leaders this past week. The lunch fellowship was conducted in the run up to the upcoming PraySingapore on the 7th of October at the National Stadium. I’m looking forward to witnessing 50,000 disciples gather and pray to seek the welfare of our beloved nation, Singapore!

2018 is the year of prayer. This year of corporate prayer is preparation for 2019’s major harvest event – Celebration of Hope. It will be held from the 17th to 19th of May at the National Stadium as well. Truly, we are living out Apostle Paul’s exhortation to the Church of Corinth, “I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.” (1 Corinthians 1:10)

The unity of believers across the different denominations of our Christian faith at the lunch fellowship was not only exciting to me, but palpable as we worshipped, received information and fellowshipped with each other within and across tables. Such unity among the national body of Christ will be a crucial witness to our fellow countrymen when we share our faith with them. We most definitely need one another to successfully share the Good News with everyone in our nation.

I left the lunch fellowship holding dear to the psalmist’s resolution, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1)
