We Are The Light

Next month, our church once again has the privilege and honour of hosting the annual G12 Asia Conference. This yearly gathering is something that I eagerly look forward to. More than just being a conference for us to be inspired and equipped, it really is a time for us to bond as a family with one another and other G12 churches in Asia.

The theme for this year’s conference is “We Are The Light”, and I’m really excited about this. The Lord has been directing us as a church to rise up wherever He has placed us – in our workplaces, our schools, our neighbourhoods, our families, and so on. So, this theme which the Lord has given through Pastor César is really divine and ties in with what God is calling us to do as a church.

As I spent time seeking the Lord about this conference, the Lord brought me to Matthew 5:14 - “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Through this verse, the Lord led me to two very important revelations that I believe He wants to release to us.

1. WE ARE THE LIGHT
God wants us to know that we are the light. Often, the church only sees Jesus as the light of the world. Yes He is, but if Christ is in us and with us, then that means we also become the light of the world. In fact, Jesus specifically tells us that we are the light. It’s time for us to receive and fulfill this divine destiny that God has for us.

2. WE ARE TO SHINE
If we are the light of the world, then our role is to shine. Jesus teaches us that we are to shine for God and not be hidden. Sometimes, we feel the need to be humble and choose not to shine too brightly or be significantly profiled. While that’s right, we must understand that shining as light doesn’t mean to be proud or arrogant. What Jesus teaches us in Matthew 5:16 is to “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” This is why it’s time for us to rise up and shine. Let’s shine brightly and glorify God through our deeds.

Honestly, just writing this has got me eagerly anticipating what God is going to do at this conference. Registration opens this weekend, and I want to encourage all of you to be there as much as possible. It’s going to be a great time, and I know we will walk away with both spiritual truths and skills to shine for God wherever we are.
