Why Christians TGIF?

2014年04月22日

“Thank God It’s Friday” or more popularly known by its acronym “TGIF” is a phrase many use to express their joy in knowing that the work-week has come to an end and the weekend is finally here! But for Christians worldwide, this phrase takes on a totally new meaning for as we truly thank God for His ultimate gift of love to mankind. That Friday, or more specifically Good Friday, God’s only Son paid the ultimate price for our sins and in doing so, conquering death and reuniting God and man.

This Good Friday, FCBC celebrated Good Friday with a cell-based harvest event called ‘TGIF’ which focused on the theme “What Is Your Choice?” At various TGIF parties island-wide, pre-believing guests mingled over food and games, they were introduced to the Gospel through a video called ‘The Bridge’ - a powerful and moving film about a man who learns the true meaning of sacrifice. Gatherings also involved sharing of personal testimonies and prayer. At the end of the day, many gave their lives to the Lord and we received a total of 459 salvations and 156 re-dedications.

Our Easter Celebration services was another big highlight as our new believing friends and members packed TOUCHCENTRE’s auditorium for all six services over the Easter Weekend!  We witnessed the Holy Spirit manifest in power and glory through Pastor Daniel Khong’s message of hope and life, which was aptly titled “The Day Death Died”. At the end of each service, an overwhelming number of people came forward to answer the altar call to be disciples and followers of Jesus. There were a total of 248 salvations and 35 re-dedications over the Easter Weekend, and we praise God for our teens who were truly fishers of men with an impressive 144 salvations and 101 re-dedications over their outreach programme.

It was most heartening to see our members’ months of preparation come to fruition with a bountiful harvest of souls. We thank God for the countless lives that have been touched this Good Friday and Easter and we welcome them into the House of God!
