Dare To Hope

Dear Church,

Trust you had a great Chinese New Year with your friends and family. As you read this, a team of 38 of us, comprising of staff from FCBC and Gateway, as well as members from FCBC Singapore and Yokohama, are at the G12 International Conference in Bogotá, Colombia. We can’t wait to be back to share with you all that we’ve been receiving here.

I thought I’d like to bless everyone with a word the Lord gave me just about a week ago. In this new season, we’re believing that God is going to lead us to infinity and beyond. There’s a sense of excitement and eagerness in the air, and it seems like we’re all hyped up for what’s ahead.

But what if your start to the new year hasn’t been all that great? What if your new year started off a little rocky or you’re facing a major setback right now? Well, I believe that with God’s strength, you can overcome that situation.

I’m reminded of the Prophet Jeremiah who penned these words when he saw all that was happening around him, in Lamentations 3:19-24:

“The thought of my suffering and homelessness is bitter beyond words… Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!’”

How powerful are those three words – dare to hope. My prayer for all of us is that regardless of what we may face in life, we will always go beyond by daring to hope – not in ourselves, not in our circumstances, but in God alone. If you’re struggling today, I pray that you will dare to hope and declare to yourself that the Lord is your inheritance.
