His Name Is Wonderful

Merry Christmas from Shenzhen where Gateway Entertainment is blessing this Chinese city with the Christmas message of faith, hope and love through our flagship production, Christmas Magic.

Christmas is indeed about giving and blessing others. In fact, Christmas is the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecy in Isaiah 9:6: “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

In this prophesy, Jesus is given a number of names that describe who He is and what He can do for us. Among them, my personal favourite is the name, “Wonderful”. And from this word, there are three things we can learn about our Messiah:

1. He is Wonderful
Jesus’ very nature and character is wonderful. As John 1:14 tells us, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” And because of how wonderful Jesus is, we can trust Him, love Him, surrender our lives to Him, and have a new relationship with God through Him.

2. He makes us Wonderful
Not only is Jesus wonderful, He also changes and renews our lives completely when we trust and surrender all to Him. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17) Through Him, we can change our lives for the better.

3. He uses us to do Wonders
“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.” (John 14:12) Here, Jesus is telling us that not only does He change our lives, but He also uses us miraculously to transform and bless the lives of others. He will give us a new role in the work of His Kingdom.

So this Christmas, I hope you have an encounter with Jesus Christ, whose name is Wonderful!
