M.A.D. In Taiwan

Last Friday, I was greatly blessed to hear Lucas Chow, one of Singapore’s most successful business leaders, share at TOUCHCENTRE on how we should go M.A.D. (Make A Difference) in our vocation. Immediately following his seminar, Senior Pastor Lawrence and I, together with three of our staff from FCBC and Gateway Entertainment, spent four days travelling across Taiwan, from Taipei to Kaohsiung and finally to Taichung. We met pastors, church leaders, business entrepreneurs and community leaders to work out how our year-end gospel-illusion production can make a difference for the pre-believing dear ones in these cities, and also in the Arts and Entertainment field.

So often, we’ve heard believers moan about the lack of decent quality entertainment. This is why Senior Pastor Lawrence responded to God’s clarion call to make a difference in the challenging Arts and Entertainment sector, and in 2000, Gateway Entertainment was thus conceived! Through the years, Gateway Entertainment has come a long way in providing innovative and wholesome entertainment for all ages – here in Singapore and beyond our shores.

In Ecclesiastes 2:24 (ESV), God tells us, “There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God”. This verse shows that it is alright for believers to seek enjoyment, which in our present day, often comes in the form of entertainment. As we read further on in Ecclesiastes 3:1-4 (NIV), we are also told, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance”. And in Psalm 95:1 (NASB), the psalmist also encourages us, “O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.” These verses are the foundations of Gateway Entertainment’s conscientious endeavour to consistently provide good, wholesome entertainment!

That’s why we are working hard to bless Taiwan with Christmas Magic this November! This past week, God has granted our team both favour and success as we met with like-minded leaders of Taiwan – from church and marketplace leaders, pastors, entrepreneurs and professionals, to housewives, deans, lecturers and even student leaders of universities. There is still much to be done, but we are all excited and ready to make a difference and let Taiwan experience the message of faith, hope and love this year. More news coming soon!
