This past week was a troubling time of battling illnesses. It started with my daughter, Priscilla, catching the flu, which she subsequently passed to her five month old baby, Hannah. They were both too sick to attend service last weekend and after service on Sunday, I had to pick up medication for them and send it to their home.
Meanwhile, a dear member of ours informed me of her dad’s rapidly worsening medical condition. When I received the message late in the evening, I made plans to visit them in the hospital the next day. Her dad was originally admitted for treatment of lung infection; and unfortunately, despite receiving treatment from several capable doctors, developed one complication after another, and his health status spiralled in deterioration. By last Sunday, the family was informed that there was nothing more the doctors could do for their beloved dad and husband.
On Monday, Senior Pastor Lawrence and I went to the hospital to pray for her dad. He looked very sickly, and did not respond to voice or touch. He had several tubes attached to his body and had to breathe through a ventilator. Even though his condition looked bad, we prayed with his family in faith, declaring health and restoration over him. Even though there was no immediate sign of improvement, we fully believe in Jehovah Rapha, our God who heals, and we persevered in this spiritual warfare for the restoration of his health.
We guided them to renounce the outcome from the doctors and continually spoke life into their beloved dad and husband, with total faith in God to bind the evil spirits that seek to steal and destroy. All the family members united as one in prayer. As they faithfully and continually wielded this weapon of prayer against the forces of darkness that threatened to engulf their dad, his condition stabilised and even showed signs of improving after three days of faithful and fervent prayer. Even the doctors attending to him were surprised by this turn of events. Praise God! We continue to advise them to persevere in prayer, and press in for victory by declaring health and life over their beloved dad and husband. With God, we can always stay hopeful for a turnaround miracle!
