Revival

Revival – that’s what many of us pray for for Singapore. Throughout history, there have been several instances where the church experienced the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. From the commonly mentioned Azusa Street Revival and Welsh Revival, to the lesser known Shandong Revival and Toronto Revival. While we can pray and prepare for a mighty visitation of the Holy Spirit, such as these, I have come to learn that such revivals are solely the result of the sovereign will of God.

“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8)

Although we cannot dictate when or how the Holy Spirit will come in power and bring revival, we have been living in the era of the Holy Spirit since the day of Pentecost as recorded in Acts. Today, we see the Holy Spirit being poured out upon all flesh, and signs, wonders, dreams, visions, and all other visible manifestations are normative.

The Lord wants us to enter into a spiritual revival. He wants us to get involved with what the Holy Spirit is doing among us and to allow Him to transform us from within. To enter into this revival, Jesus tells us, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” (John 7:37-38)

So don’t just pray for a revival. Have one today. Have one now.
