Revive Us Again

Many of us in Singapore are crying out, “Lord, we want a revival! Lord, we need a revival!” We echo King David’s cry in Psalm 85:6 (NASB), “Will You not Yourself revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?” Another way to phrase this prayer is, “Lord, nobody can revive us but Yourself.” Dear family, I invite everyone to join me in this simple and powerful prayer for revival. This verse teaches us that revival is not man-made, but given by God. It also tells us that we may and should pray with godly expectation of faith for revival.

This prayer for revival implies that we were alive once, abounding with life in our faith, but over time, some stagnated or even died spiritually. As we grow older and get caught up with the busyness of our families and jobs, we become spiritually complacent. We are in desperate need of a revival.

The Church of Singapore cannot be revived unless God revives it! Not a soul has been saved, nor a disciple strengthened and matured, except by the work of God. This is what the prayer in Psalm 85:6 says, “Lord, help us; we need Your touch. Will You not revive us again?” This is what Singapore’s churches need, and this is how revival will come to our land – when God’s people come before Him on our knees asking for revival to touch our nation.

Revival is not just a movement of God in Singapore or the world that draws unchurched pre-believers to salvation in Christ. No, revivals do not start in the world; they start with us, in the Church. In fact, the Church is most in need of new life. The effect of such revivals spills over and that is how many pre-believers receive a special touch from God, and become saved and transformed. This explains why revivals are always marked with many salvations.

Dear FCBC, let’s not wait till PraySingapore to start praying. Starting this week, join me to pray for revival in ourselves, in our Church and in Singapore!
