See You Next Week At Gateway Theatre!

Dear family and friends,

I am so happy to announce that Gateway Theatre is now officially open! On Friday, together with many of our honoured guests and friends, we celebrated its gala opening with the first show of Hansel & Gretel, a musical theatre production by Players Theatre.

This is a very significant milestone in FCBC’s history. I recall back in 1997, the Lord divinely led us to purchase the theatre in this strategic and central location. 20 years later, we’re now owners and operators of a multi-theatre venue that will bless the community and cater to the different needs of Singapore’s Arts & Entertainment arena – especially its demand for mid-sized theatres.

We want Gateway Theatre to bring light to this community, and we’re doing so by procuring and staging artistic content that uplifts, inspires and promotes wholesome values. Starting from Friday, 30 June, till the Opening Festival that’s happening next weekend, from 7 to 9 July, we have a line-up of many shows, workshops and activities that are fun for the whole family. They’re mostly free, with some reasonably priced ticketed shows as well. The free programmes include Kulit On The Go, a one-man monologue by Erwin Shah Ismail at our Black Box, Attack Of The Swordfish, an interactive children’s story by Act 3 Theatrics, and even lessons on b-boying, hip hop dance and acro fly. In between programmes, you can also check out The Ink & Clog’s live graffiti exhibit or enjoy the music of The Steve McQueens and Cadence at the Sky Garden.

And you won’t want to miss our three main ticketed shows! Aside from Hansel & Gretel, we have As It Fades, a contemporary dance show that’s rated among the top 3 in Singapore in 2011, and Singapore Stands Up, a stand-up comedy act featuring homegrown husband and wife duo, Sharul and Rishi. You can visit theatre.gateway.sg to find out the dates and times of all these performances I’ve listed, and more.

There’s so much happening at Gateway Theatre Opening Festival next weekend, and I hope all of you will be there with your family and friends to experience it with me! Together, let’s chalk up many fun-filled memories at Gateway Theatre as we kick off its opening with a bang

“The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,” says the Lord Almighty. “And in this place I will grant peace,” declares the Lord Almighty.’
