Dear family, thank you for all your prayers for Celebration of Life. I’m so pleased to share that we’re opening to a full house this week! On behalf of Pastor Lawrence, Priscilla, and everyone in the Celebration of Life team, I want to give praise and thanks to God for His marvellous faithfulness to us even when our faith in Him was being severely challenged!
Two weeks ago, Pastor Lawrence and I were in Xiamen, China to explore ways to further accelerate ticket sales for our three shows at Banlam Grand Theater. In fact, since July, whenever we had a few days on hand, we would fly to Xiamen to interact with our Christian friends in the marketplace, pastors and church leaders to promote Celebration of Life. However, up till our last visit two weeks ago, ticket sales barely moved and we started to get concerned over not having a good house to perform to.
We set off for Xiamen last Friday with a heavy heart as only about a quarter of the overall tickets had been sold. As I mulled over our less than satisfactory ticket sales, God reminded me of His promise in Deuteronomy 7:9, “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments”. This verse reveals that God is not just a faithful God, but the faithful God. His faithfulness endures to a thousand generations, or pretty much forever! This was such a consolation to me. Pastor Lawrence, Priscilla and I are very clear of why we need to present Celebration of Life in China – to showcase how everyone needs faith, hope and love to live truly happy and meaningful lives. And last weekend, we received the good news that tickets were selling fast, so much so that we actually oversold the shows! Wow! God is good and He will never fail us when we put our trust in Him.
As we’re experiencing God’s abundant blessings through Gateway, I also want to encourage my FCBC family to declare the faithfulness of our God daily. Let our hearts not be filled with worry. Let our minds not be filled with doubts. Instead, let us believe that God is faithful and He will bring all His promises to you to pass in your life. From Judges 6:14-16, we know that we can go with the strength we have, into whichever project that God sends us, because He promises to be with us!
